The George and Dragon pub in Thringstone is to stay closed until next week following reports of 'several' customers testing positive for Covid-19.

A message on the Ashby Road pub's Facebook page says it will re-open next Monday (July 19) and 12 noon.

Last week, the George and Dragon posted: "We have been informed several customers who have attended our premises have tested positive for Covid therefore, we have been forced to make the decision to close to enable us to do a thorough deep clean and full sanitisation of the whole premises.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but wish to safeguard all our customers and staff at this time.

"We will inform you as soon as we have been advised by PHE, Thank you for your understanding and once again our sincere apologies as this is out of our hands."

The pub recently condemned the 'unacceptable' behaviour of football fans during England's European Championship game against Ukraine Pub condemns unacceptable behaviour during England game.

It said it would not be opening during Sunday's night's final against Italy.

A post from yesterday (Monday) reads: "After careful consideration and putting the safety of staff and customers, we have decided to stay closed until Monday 19th. We will reopen at 12noon.

"We thank everyone for their support over the last three months since reopening, and look forward to seeing you all soon."
