Three proposed employment units in Coalville have been recommended for approval as there is 'an immediate need' for them.

Insider Media reports that Fleet Auction Group is seeking the go-ahead for up to 32,291 sq ft of floor space to be created on land off Brindley Road on Stephenson Industrial Estate.

A total of 138 car parking spaces would also be created if the green light is given by North West Leicestershire District Council's planning committee next Tuesday (December 1).

A council document published ahead of the meeting said: "Whilst the site is not specifically identified for employment development within the adopted North West Leicestershire Local Plan, there is evidence to demonstrate that there is an immediate need or demand for the proposed development and, as such, the in-principle element of Policy Ec2 is capable of being met, and the principle of the development is therefore considered acceptable in land use terms.

"Whilst concerns have been raised by objectors regarding a range of issues, having regard to the supporting information submitted with the application and the advice of statutory consultees, it is considered that there are no technical issues that would indicate that planning permission ought to be refused."
