Coalville's Marlene Reid Centre has been targeted by burglars for the second time in a week.

Following on from a raid at the Belvoir Road-based community centre last Tuesday, a Mercedes van was stolen last night (Sunday).

MRC says the locks were changed following last week's incident.

But once again, it has suffered a break-in.

A social media post from the MRC reads: "Last night between 11-12pm somebody broke into our compound and stole our beloved Mercedes Sprinter Box Van! REG: KP62 EBX.

"This incident follows on from a break in last Tuesday night (after which all locks on the buildings and vehicles had then been changed!)

"If you spot a large white Mercedes van out and about with the MRC Logo on it, please inform the police ASAP so we have the best chance of it being recovered.

"We will issue further updates but needless to say this will have a serious impact on us as a small nonprofit community charity and our service users."

Last week saw thieves break in to the MRC Furniture Warehouse.

At the time, the Centre's Facebook page reported: "No-one got hurt, and the Centre is open as usual,

"Unfortunately, some Furniture Warehouse deliveries and collections were affected but customers have been contacted. We appreciate your understanding."

MRC works in collaboration with individuals, families, groups and organisations to encourage, facilitate, manage and deliver, positive community activity in North West Leicestershire and beyond.

Leicestershire Police issued a statement about the theft today (Tuesday).

A spokesperson said: "We have received a report relating to the theft of a van from a car park in Belvoir Road, Coalville.

"The vehicle was stolen sometime between 10pm on Sunday (17 April) and the early hours of Monday morning.

"It's believed the key to the van may have been stolen from a premises in Belvoir Road on Thursday (14 April).

"Enquiries are continuing into the incident and if anyone has any information they are asked to contact 101 or report via www.leics.police.uk, quoting crime number 22*218413."
