A Coalville man is taking on the near 200-mile Coast to Coast Walk next month to raise money for The Marlene Reid Centre Feelgood cafe.
Rob Bayliss - from Stephenson Industrial Estate-based company Kocher and Beck - will embark on the journey with just the kit on his back.
Kocher and Beck chose to sponsor the cafe - which is held every Tuesday at The Marlene Reid Centre with partners Enrych - at the beginning of the year.
And Rob has taken the opportunity to raise additional funds for the centre via the walk which he will begin on July 8.
The cafe is a safe space for people who can come along and join in with group activities such as bingo, or create something artistic, and enjoy good company at the same time.
They can meet other local people who are in the same situation and interact whilst feeling safe - it is also aimed at improving their wellbeing.
Rob and friends will be commencing the walk beginning at St. Bees in Cumbria and ending at Robin Hood's Bay, in North Yorkshire.
In between, they will be braving the elements and wild camping while crossing the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks.
Each of the three national parks that the 192-mile path passes through has a completely different geological structure and immensely varied scenery.
The Lake District is mountainous and wet, the Yorkshire Dales has a predominantly karst landscape, and the North Yorkshire Moors constitutes many ups and downs and boggy ground.
They will be following Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk, first published in 1973, and hope to cover up to 20 miles per day.
In August 2022, the Government announced that Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk was to become Britain's newest National Trail.
