Staff at Ibstock Co-op are doing their bit for tonight's The Big Night In fundraising event.

Colleagues at Central England Co-op stores across Leicestershire have been joining fellow key workers in rising to a challenge set by popular comedian Peter Kay for the show.

Peter is recreating his iconic music video for the Tony Christie smash hit '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' on BBC One, supporting Children in Need and Comic Relief, and has asked key workers across the country to be a part of it by posting their attempts on social media.

Central England Co-op teams in Leicester, Newbold Verdon, Broughton Astley and Ibstock have been among those who have risen to the challenge with their own takes on the video, with some impressive dance moves on show.

For the teams who have been working around the clock over the last few weeks to ensure their communities have food and essentials, the challenge has proved an enjoyable one.

Ibstock store manager Craig Symonds said: "We are proud to do our bit for The Big Night In which will help Children in Need and Comic Relief to raise funds to support good causes and projects with emergency funding during the pandemic.

"Our team have gone above and beyond to make sure our community has the food and vital essentials they need over the past few weeks, so it was great to see lots of smiles and laughter as the team did the video and we hope to maybe even see ourselves on the show tonight!"

Central England Co-op has thrown its support behind The Big Night In by donating £50,000 to the cause.

Also, because the Government is match-funding all donations, the £50,000 donation will end up actually being £100,000.

Meanwhile the retailer's store teams across the country have been dressing up in colourful fancy dress and encouraging customers and members to tune in tonight at 7pm on BBC One and donate.

People can donate and find out more information by visiting BBC Big Night In
