North West Leicestershire District Council says it has a limited number of sandbags available as flooding continues to pose a threat to the area.

Flood warnings were in place over the past 24 hours - mainly affecting the Whitwick and Thringstone regions.

The District Council has since posted on social media to provide support for those that need it.

It says: "We have information on our website about flooding which you can access at nwleics.gov.uk/flooding

"We keep a limited number of sandbags, which can only be used to protect:

• Life and important buildings such as hospitals and substations

• The elderly, disabled and vulnerable people

• Access for emergency vehicles

"These sandbags are available for homeowners to collect at our Linden Way depot off Ashby Road in Coalville (postcode LE67 3JY) - between 8am and 4:45pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays and weekends).

"We also have more information on what to do after a flood on our website.

"This can be accessed going to nwleics.gov.uk/afteraflood
