Coalville's Bardon Beat Police Team have issued advice to drivers after dealing with a number of snow-related incidents today (Monday).

Officers have posted photos of what they have been dealing with as wintry conditions hit the Coalville area over the past two days.

Police posted on social media and said: "Throughout the day officers from the Bardon Beat Team have been assisting response colleagues with road closures and road traffic collisions across Coalville."

As a result, they have posted a guide for what motorists need to do in the icy and thawing conditions.

PREPARE- If you need to travel during adverse weather conditions, double-check your route of travel for any road closures and always leave plenty of time for your journey.

CLEAR - Before setting off, take the time to fully clear your windscreen, rear window and side windows of any ice or snow. Also remove any snow from the front/rear lights and the roof of the vehicle.

SPEED - When driving, reduce your speed and leave plenty of stopping distance from the vehicle in front of you, thus giving you the time to react to any sudden braking and prevent a collision.
