North West Leicestershire District Council has launched an appeal for items to be placed in a time capsule.

Coalville Park will mark its 125th anniversary this year - and to mark the occasion, the council will be burying a capsule to be opened in 50 years' time.

A social media post from the council says: "We are looking for Coalville-based community groups to send in suggestions of a small, a small, commemorative object that could be put inside the capsule.

"This could be something bearing a logo like a medal, certificate, badge, etc, to show they were active in the community in 2024.

"If you would like to take part, please email Spiral Projects at [email protected] with your idea.

"If possible, please include a photograph, item dimensions and your contact details by the closing date of May 26. If your item is chosen, we will contact you and arrange collection after the deadline.

"Look out for more information on social media regarding the celebratory event to be held in Coalville Park on June 29 and 30."

"Please email your suggestions to [email protected]."
