A double decker bus operated by Hugglescote-based company Roberts Travel Group crashed into a railway bridge in Ashby de la Zouch this morning (Thursday).

The incident forced the road close to Lower Packington Road and Tamworth Road to be closed as the vehicle became stuck.

Police were on the scene and redirecting traffic away from the area.

Leicestershire Police have confirmed that no-one was injured as a result of the collision.

The vehicle is understood to be a school bus and that there were some passengers on board at the time, but no injuries were reported. They left the bus following the collision.
