High Street in Coalville had to be closed on Thursday morning because of a problem with the railway barriers.

Leicestershire Police confirmed the delay and that Network Rail were addressing the problem.

The disruption comes just days after work carried out by Network Rail at the crossing last weekend.

The road was closed then but re-opened on Monday after work was finished ahead of schedule Network Rail apologises to local businesses.

Leicestershire Police issued the following explanation: "Morning, due to a problem with the railway barriers at High St, Coalville the road has had to be closed in both directions.

"Network Rail are attending to sort the problem, we will let you know when the road is reopened."
