A Leicestershire-based multi-academy trust wants to hear the views of local residents about the new forest primary school near Coalville - which is due to open next year.

Lionheart Educational Trust has been selected to run the school, named Greenstone Primary, which is situated in the Swinfen Vale development near Ellistown, to meet the needs of the growing local community.

Lionheart says it is keen for the school to be at the heart of the community from the start and is seeking the views of people who live, work or run businesses in the local area, as well as parents of prospective pupils.

Anyone with an interest in the new school can learn more HERE - where there is also a link to a feedback form.

Parents of young children – alongside wider community members - who are interested in discovering more about the school and the community development plans, are invited to attend a drop-in information event to view the facilities, meet the new Head and ask questions, on Tuesday, October 8, between 3-6pm.

The school can be found on Sence Valley Road, off Beveridge Lane, LE67 1HQ.

Having built the school as part of the wider development, the Harworth team will also be in attendance to share updates on the current and future plans for the area, offering an opportunity to learn more about what is happening in the community.

The school, for children aged 4-11, will open with an Early Years class only in August 2025.

It will then grow organically by adding a new Early Years class each year until the school is full with all-year groups, up to Year 6, in the 2031-32 academic year.

Kath Kelly, CEO of Lionheart Educational Trust said: "We're excited to open Greenstone Primary School where, by adopting a forest school approach, pupils will flourish and achieve through a traditional education that also encompasses beyond-the-classroom experiences.

"Our aim is to create a school that is at the heart of the community, enabling us to work together with families in the local and wider area of Coalville. The brand-new school facilities are second-to-none and we know that pupils will thrive in Greenstone's wonderful learning environment."
