Two packages on their way to separate addresses in Coalville were intercepted when it was suspected they both contained controlled 'illegal' drugs.

Police are now carrying out further investigations to find out more about the discovery.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police told Coalville Nub News: "Police were contacted this morning (Wednesday 22 July) following concerns about the content of two packages which were due to be delivered to two separate addresses in the Coalville area.

"After an initial examination the packages were believed to contain controlled drugs.

"Further tests will be conducted on the substances to confirm.

"Enquiries are now ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the find."

North West Leicestershire Police posted photos of the packages on social media with the addresses blurred out.

And a message alongside the pictures reads: "If you are expecting either of these items to be delivered then I'm sorry to say that they wont be coming.

"Two packages containing illegal drugs intercepted this morning. Now for some follow up work."
