Police speaking to man after staff were threatened in attempted robbery at Donington le Heath supermarket

A man threatened staff at a Donington le Heath supermarket and demanded money.

Coalville police launched an appeal to speak to a man in connection with the attempted robbery at the supermarket in Manor Road.

The store is likely to be the Co-op - but Leicestershire Police have not confirmed this.

Police have said today (Wednesday) that they have identified the man they wanted to speak to.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Thank you to everyone who came forward with any information.

"The man in the image we wanted to speak to about an attempted robbery in Donington le Heath has been identified and is assisting officers with their enquiries."

The incident happened at around 11.30am on Tuesday, January 31.

A man demanded money threatened staff, who refused to hand over any cash.

He then left the shop on foot. But no members of staff were injured during the incident.

Detective Constable Aldona Wolska, the investigating officer, said on Tuesday: "From enquiries carried out since the incident occurred, I believe the man pictured may have information that could help."
