A project has been started to create 'bee corridors' in Coalville and the surrounding area.

The plans are being backed by Nuneaton-based company Simon The Beekeeper.

Residents are being encouraged to grow bee friendly plants, with packets of seeds available from Hermitage FM in Coalville.

Simon The Beekeeper posted: "This came about after one of our staff was tagged in a post asking if anyone could help the project – and naturally, we jumped at the chance to help the bees.

"The project involves households planting bee friendly plants and seeds to help our pollinators on their foraging journeys.

"We have therefore provided some free wildflower mixed seeds for anyone who would like to join in. These seeds are available to pick up at the Hermitage FM in Coalville.

"The seeds could be saved to sow next year, or possibly planted now as we've not had the first frost yet.

"The seeds have a simple 'how to' guide and will hopefully bring some colour and joy to households who would like to see these amazing creatures at work next year.

"If you would like to get your area involved in this, please get in touch and we'll see if we can help."
