Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre is set to throw open its doors in just over a month's time.

And people are being urged to secure membership in time for Christmas, as the state-of-the-art site nears completion.

Building work at the £22.5million fitness hub is almost finished and the facility will be kitted out with top-of-the-range exercise equipment later this month.

The site, run by award-winning operator Everyone Active in partnership with North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC), is also undergoing landscaping work in preparation for launch day.

The centre is due to welcome the community for the first time at the end of January, with an official opening being planned for the following month.

Among the features are a 25m main pool, learner pool with adjustable floor, 110-station gym, group cycling studio and group dance studio.

A sauna, steam and spa pool are also included, as is Clip 'n Climb, an eight-court sports hall and three squash courts.

Members of the community can take advantage of reduced membership prices, which are available until the end of December.

Everyone Active is offering annual membership at £299.90, equivalent to just £24.99 per month, which includes multi-site access to swimming pools, fitness suites, fitness classes and more.

Monthly direct debit membership is priced at £34.99 per month.

Duncan Gibb, Everyone Active's Contract Manager, said: "Annual membership represents fantastic value for access to this wonderful new facility, which has an activity for everyone, no matter what your age, interests or ability.

"Many people will use the new year as a chance to kick off a big fitness drive and Whitwick and Coalville Leisure Centre is the ideal place to do that, so annual membership could be the perfect Christmas present for someone.

"We are so excited to throw open the doors next month and to begin a new chapter for health and wellbeing in North West Leicestershire."

Councillor Richard Blunt, Leader of NWLDC, added: "These are fabulous, state-of-the-art facilities that I hope will inspire new and existing members.

"The leisure centre will have a positive impact on health and wellbeing across the district and I can't wait for it to open to the public in 2022."
