Plans for a new pizza restaurant, cafe and takeaway in Coalville town centre have been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council.

But part of the application is retrospective with signage already in place for the shop which will be called Pizza GoGo - a franchise operation.

The applicant, Mr Ammad Arshad, says the scheme would see a change of use at 4, Belvoir Road - which had been occupied by William Hill bookmakers.

A Design and Access Statement says that the new Restaurant/Takeaway will only use a pizza oven to cook starters and pizzas, which means less smoke will be discharged through the extraction flue system.

It adds that the proposed restaurant will be open seven days a week, from 11am until 11pm.

There will be three full-time and two part-time employees.

However, the proposed new business is close to an already-established pizza takeaway in Belvoir Road, Caprino's.

The applicant says the proposal would have no adverse impact on the residential amenities or local shopping areas.

It adds: "This region is a vibrant retail area which will be sustainable."
