A new children's nursery is starting in Thringstone - and will employ staff who previously worked at the old Grace Dieu Nursery and were made redundant when the school closed in 2020.

The Grace Dieu Manor Priory Nursery being set up at the Grace Dieu Manor building in Thringstone.

It plans to open its doors to children aged up to five years old next month after renting space from FCV Football Academy which also opens at its new Thringstone base next month.

It is planned as an expansion of the current pre-school at the Charles Booth Centre in Thringstone.

The former Grace Dieu Manor School closed two years ago because it could not guarantee its financial future - and had to make a 'difficult decision'.

But now the site is born again with bookings being taken from September 1.

An open day is planned before a mid-to-late September launch.

Alison Simpson, owner and manager of The Charles Booth Pre-School and Grace Dieu Manor Park Nursery, told Coalville Nub News: "Grace Dieu Manor Park is such an important of part of both the history and heritage of both Thringstone and North West Leicestershire.

"It's brilliant news that the old nursery buildings will be once again used as a Nursery Setting and along with the Football Academy becoming a significant employer in the area."

"The football academy has plans to expand, so this will also be good for the local economy and for local people."

Alison took over the pre-school at the Charles Booth Centre, after Grade Dieu Manor School closed.

She had previously run the pre-school within the Manor School and her new pre-school enabled her to employ some of the staff that were made redundant when the school closed.

The Charles booth Pre-School caters for 28 two to five-year-olds and can accommodate 30 holiday club children.

However, there is not the space for babies so the new setting at Grace Dieu will provide nursery care from birth for up to 56 children.

The nursery was originally opened at Grace Dieu six years ago and the new version will use the same buildings.

Alison explained that the strong relationship with the Football Academy means the Nursery children will have access to the swimming pool, sports hall and extensive grounds making it a very unique Nursery setting.

She added: "We are planning an open day so please keep an eye out on social media for dates and drop us a line if you would like to book in a visit from September 1."
