New garden centre store is on its way to Coalville after planning permission is granted
A new garden centre is coming to Coalville and will be sited at the Whitwick Retail Park.
The Range is to open a store on the park and will take the place of Poundstretcher and Peacocks.
An application for a change of use at the retail park has been granted by North West Leicestershire District Council.
Plans for a new outdoor garden centre and other associated works were presented to the council in November.
A report submitted to council officers says there will be and enclosed external garden centre together with a service yard associated with the company's proposed occupation of the former Peacocks and Poundstretcher stores.
The report adds that The Range store which will occupy the three units.
It goes on to say: 'The garden centre will stock a range of predominantly bulky items such as soli, compost, fertilizers, garden equipment including fencing panels, water butts, containers as well as shrubs and plants.
"This type of outdoors, external retail provision is not typically found in point of sale (the Range do not provide a delivery service).
"The bulky nature of the vast majority of garden centre items means that customers typically need access to a car or other vehicle located close to the store exit."
The Range, with a head office in Plymouth, says, since opening its first store in 1989, it is now the fastest growing retailer in the UK.
With over 175 stores nationwide, it stocks more than 65,000 products across 16 different departments, from Homewares and Furniture to DIY and Art Supplies.
It adds that the company's ethos has always been to bring customers quality products at the most competitive prices.
