Motorbike thief is arrested in Coalville as off-duty officer spots crime in progress

An off-dury police officer spotted a motorbike being stolen in Coalville yesterday (Wednesday) and the thief was arrested.

North West Leicestershire Police reported the incident on social media - and said the officer was in the right place at the right time.

They did not reveal the exact location, but gave details of what happened.

The post reads: "Right place, right time.

"Earlier this evening, an off duty officer spotted a theft of motorcycle in progress in Coalville.

"Local Neighbourhood Patrol Officers were on scene within less than a minute, locating the suspect in possession of the stolen bike.

"Despite his best efforts to run away, the suspect was detained.

"One arrested, and one motorcycle returned to a happy owner."

North West Leicestershire Police also gave details of a beat surgey taking place at the Marlene Reid Centre in Coalville on November 2.
