More events like Celebrating Coalville could help the town thrive again say organisers

By Graham Hill 16th Sep 2021

Organisers of last Saturday's Celebrating Coalville event say it was a success - and more occasions like this would help the town thrive.

Coalville businesses businesses got involved and dressed their windows with Alice In Wonderland and nursery rhyme themes.

There was also a Mad Hatters Tea party being held at the side of the Engineers Arms.

All proceeds will go to Coalville Community Action Group to put back into the town centre.

One of the organisers, Tricia Burton, said: "I think the Celebrating Coalville event went extremely well.

"I haven't seen the town looking that busy in years.

"The atmosphere was great with lots of happy children and smiley people.

"A lot of our lovely town centre traders got involved and created some wonderful window displays.

"I believe if we had more of these sorts of events, the town could thrive again.

"It showed what can be achieved when the community works together."
