A van driver in his 50s died in a road accident near Ravenstone yesterday evening.

Leicestershire Police detectives are appealing for information following the fatal single-vehicle collision.

At around 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 September) a silver Peugeot Partner van left the road while travelling along Alton Hill from Ravenstone towards New Packington.

Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed while police attended the scene but later reopened.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hawkins, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the silver Peugeot van beforehand.

"I am particularly keen to speak to any motorists with a dashcam in their vehicle.

"Any information or footage you're able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help our enquiries."
