Mercedes bursts into flames on A42: Coalville fire crew called to incident

A Mercedes car caught fire on the A42 this evening (Wednesday) - with Coalville fire crew called to the incident.

They were joined by firefighters from Ashby and Castle Donington at the incident which happened between Junctions 13 and 12.

Firefighters needed breathing apparatus to put out the blaze.

No casualties have been reported in early reports from the scene.

A Leicestershire Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: "Several calls reporting a Mercedes car on fire on the live carriageway,

"Callers confirming the vehicle is a hybrid.

"On arrival, Incident Commander confirmed the car was fully involved in fire.

"One hosereel and two breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire."
