A man was taken to hospital after his electric wheelchair was involved in a collision with a car in Coalville yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

The incident happened on the A511 by-pass at the roundabout junction with Thornborough Road.

Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene and attended to the man.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: "Police were called to the Thornborough Road/A511 roundabout by the East Midlands Ambulance Service shortly before 4pm following a report of a collision.

"It involved a car and a person in an electric wheelchair.

"The person in the electric wheelchair – a man – was taken to hospital as a precaution. No-one was arrested."
