A man has been charged with robbery following last Saturday's raid on a Coalville supermarket.

Levi Muttock, 32, of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of possessing a bladed knife.

Leicestershire Police says this follows incidents in Leicester and Coalville.

He was remanded in custody and appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday).

The charges relate to incidents at commercial premises in Loughborough Road, Leicester on Saturday 6 March and Broom Leys Road, Coalville on Saturday 13 March.

The Coalville incident happened late last Saturday evening when staff at the Spar supermarket were threatened with knives.

Alcohol, cigarettes and cash were stolen and police issued an appeal for information the next day.

This is how we reported the incident last weekend: Robbers threatened Coalville supermarket staff with knives.
