Man arrested after motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in Copt Oak collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in Copt Oak which resulted in a motorcyclist being taken to hospital and a man being arrested.

The incident happened at around 2.25pm yesterday (7 February) in Whitwick Road and involved a white Ford panel van and a black Qingqi motorcycle.

The motorcyclist remains at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham in a serious but stable condition.

The van driver was not injured.

A 20-year-old Leicester man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and remains in police custody.

Detective Constable Anna Thorpe is investigating the incident and asking anyone with information to get in touch.

She said: "At the time of the collision, both vehicles were travelling towards Markfield.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision or the vehicles beforehand.

"Similarly if anyone who has a dash cam in their vehicle which may have captured something connected to this collision, I would also be eager to speak to them."
