Main Coalville route is closed this Sunday as redevelopment work continues

Ashby Road in Coalville is closed for through this Sunday for road works to be carried out.
The road - one of the main route in and out of Coalville - will also be closed for the second Sunday running.
Leicestershire County Council has been carrying out redevelopment work on Ashby Road as part of the removal of the unpopular 'chicanes' that were brought in as traffic calming measures.
But the thinking now is to provide an easier route into Coalville as part of the town's regeneration schemes.
The closure is from the clock tower traffic lights to the junction with Coalville Lane although some access only traffic is allowed.
The scheme was first announced over 12 months ago, but the first lockdown followed soon after and work was delayed as a result.
Here is how we have reported the development over the past year.
