A charity that works with children who have cerebral palsy and other motor disorders has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon team in Coalville.

Steps, which is based in Shepshed, aims to improve the movement and independence of children with any condition affecting the acquisition of motor skills.

The charity provides Conductive Education which uses structured play to teach children a wide range of skills and encourages them to do things for themselves.

The donation will go towards the purchase of specialised equipment.

To mark the donation, Steps staff and volunteers invited members of the Amazon Coalville team to visit the centre and meet some of the children.

Speaking on the donation, Martin Cox, Site Leader at Amazon Coalville, said: "We are very proud to support Steps.

"The charity's volunteers and staff do fantastic work. I would also like to thank the managers and their team for inviting us to come to the centre and meet some of the amazing children Steps supports."

Janet Russell from Steps added: "On behalf of everyone at Steps and the children we support, I would like to say a huge thank you to Amazon Coalville for this donation.

"Our goal is that all children with motor learning difficulties have the best possible start in life and donations such as this help us continue to achieve that goal."

The donation forms part of the "Amazon In The Community" programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
