Lorry and motorcycle rider involved in collision on busy Coalville route during morning traffic

A lorry collided with a motorcycle this morning (Wednesday) in Coalville town centre.

Leicestershire Police issued a warning for drivers to avoid the area following the incident which happened at around 7.30.

Officers attended and it was later reported that the motorbike rider did not sustain serious injuries.

The police posted on social media and said: "Ashby Road, Coalville - Junction with High Street to Ashby Road Roundabout.

"Please find alternative routes or allow extra time for your journey.

"This is due to a road traffic collision. Officers are currently on scene."

Police said the route was clear again at around 8.30am.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "A collision involving a lorry and motorcycle was reported just before 7.30am.

"No life-threatening or life-changing injuries were reported and officers have left the scene."
