Latest North West Leicestershire Covid case figures show encouraging signs

North West Leicestershire recorded zero Covid cases during the 24 hour period up to 4pm on Monday.
That represents huge progress for an area that had been of concern to Leicestershire Health Chiefs since the turn of the year.
The seven day infection rate for North West Leicestershire has also tumbled to 18.3 cases per 100,000 population - it was just over 400 in January.
Fewer than 50 new cases have been confirmed across the city and county.
In total there were 47 new infections identified – 33 in Leicester and 14 spread across Leicestershire.
There were also zero cases added in Hinckley and Bosworth.
Blaby added the most new cases with six recorded.
There were three in Charnwood.
Harborough and Melton added two new cases and Oadby and Wigston recorded one.
The new cases mean that the total number of cases across the city and county since the start of the pandemic area by area are :
- Leicester: 36,633
- Blaby: 7,068
- Charnwood: 12,498
- Harborough: 5,114
- Hinckley and Bosworth: 6,145
- Melton: 2,698
- North West Leicestershire: 6,083
- Oadby and Wigston: 4,956
The latest seven-day infection rates, area by area, are:
- Leicester: 59.3 cases per 100,000 (210)
- Blaby: 25.6 cases per 100,000 (26)
- Charnwood: 23.7 cases per 100,000 (44)
- Harborough: 29.8 cases per 100,000 (28)
- Hinckley and Bosworth: 27.4 cases per 100,000 (31)
- Melton: 21.5 cases per 100,000 (11)
- North West Leicestershire: 18.3 cases per 100,000 (19)
- Oadby and Wigston: 21 cases per 100,000 (12)
