The landlord of the property occupied by Alma's cafe in Coalville has responded to claims that the owner has refused to negotiate a new contract and forced the business to close.
The cafe in Jackson Street posted on Facebook last week that it would be closing at the end of this month.
This was then reported by Coalville Nub News as a local business being forced to shut its doors.
But Derby-based landlord Kam Bassi disputes a claim that the owner had a rolling contract.
The post says that the landlord said the owner had to vacate.
But that section has now been removed from Facebook.
Mr Bassi old Coalville Nub News: "The tenant is trying to argue their case, and I'm being painted as the bad guy.
"It's a one-sided story so far.
"The only issue i've got is that the owner is posting it on social media, and telling people they have been forced out. Which isn't true.
"Instead of telling one side of the story, I'd rather the full story was told as to why she is being asked to leave.
"For her to say that she has an on rolling contract agreement, is not true. The truth is that her lease has expired, I said I needed a lease signing, and it needs to be over a four or five year period.
"But she refused to do that, I've dealt with her fairly from my perspective.
"I'm getting some criticism about this on the local community is on Facebook. I didn't want to publish anything, I wanted to get it resolved between us, but she has decided to publicise it, so I feel as though I would like to get something out there as well."
Coalville Nub News understands that there is a rent dispute between the two parties.
Alma's has been contacted for further comment following the counter claim.
