Jewellery was stolen during a burglary on a house in Coalville in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Leicestershire Police report it happened at home in Discovery Close and detectives are appealing for information after several items were taken.
A jewellery box, containing several pieces, was taken.
In it was an 18-carat yellow cartouche pendant with the name "Linda" in hieroglyphics.
A set of 1947 pre-decimal coins, mounted on white card in a plastic sleeve, was also taken as well as a bag of 1949 UK coins in a plastic bag.
A historic small clay pipe in a white jiffy bag was also stolen.
All items hold great sentimental value to their owner.
Detective Constable Natasha Perkins, the investigating officer, said: "Whoever is responsible for this burglary has taken items that would mean very little to them however they mean an awful lot to the victims.
"We need your help to apprehend those responsible and reunite the items with the owner.
"If you have any information about who might be responsible or where these stolen items are now we would like to hear from you – your information no matter how insignificant you think it might be could help with our investigation."
