North West Leicestershire District Council is holding an event next month advising people how they can become a local councillor.

If you have ever wished you could have more of a day in local government matters, here is your chance.

The 'Be A Councillor - Information Event' takes place on Monday, January 16, at the Council Offices in Whitwick Road, Coalville.

It would prepare potential candidates for the local May elections in Coalville and Ashby.

At the event, you will learn about district and parish councils - and how they operate.

Discover the role of a councillor at parish and district council level.

Learn about how the electoral process works - and find out what you need to do to stand in the 2023 local elections.

It is an evening event and runs from 6 -8pm.

The event is open to all those who may stand for election, both current elected members and those who are not currently councillors.
