Home Bargains warns shoppers to return Easter toys that pose 'serious risk” of asphyxiation'

By Tess Rushin
Home Bargains shoppers have been warned to stop using a set of Easter toys "immediately".
The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a recall for the product that presents a "serious risk" of asphyxiation.
The recall states the Happy Easter Plush Toys (Pink Rabbit, White Rabbit and Yellow Chick) present a "serious risk of asphyxiation" as the limbs of the toy can become easily detached due to the weakness of the seams. As a result, "the internal fibrous stuffing material is easily accessible".
Coalville has a newly-opened branch of Home Bargains in the town's Bridge Road - after it left the Belvoir Shopping Centre earlier this year.
The warning states: "A child may access the stuffing material and place it in their mouth. The products do not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011, the warning adds.
The government's Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) is the national regulator for product safety, overseeing regulatory enforcement, identifying risks, and managing large-scale product recalls. It also manages a national website for product recalls and alerts.
As a result of the recall, Home Bargains has withdrawn the products from the market. Consumers who have bought any of the Easter plush toys are advised to stop using it immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. Home Bargains has said shoppers can obtain a full refund by returning the toys to their nearest store.
If shoppers need any further information about the recall, they are advised to ask in store or visit the help centre on the Home Bargains website.
