The owners of the Belvoir Shopping Centre in Coalville say that Home Bargains has not yet announced any plans to close its town centre shop - despite being given the go-ahead to open a new store on Bridge Street.
North West Leicestershire District Council has given planning permission for Liverpool-based T J Morris Limited - which operates as discount store Home Bargains across the country - to move into the former Co-op building.
But Home Bargains already has an outlet in the Belvoir Centre - raising questions as to whether that will close.
However, Gylo, the owners of the Belvoir Shopping Centre, says there are no plans for the shop to move out as yet - and the company's lease has another three years to run.
A spokesperson for Gylo told Coalville Nub News: "Home Bargains has not been in touch with us regarding the lease that it has on the unit in the shopping centre which does not expire until 2026.
"We have not been notified of any plans to close."
It is thought Home Bargains will vacate its town centre site eventually once the new store is established - but Gylo says that is not imminent.
In December, Poundland announced it would be leaving the Belvoir Centre, saying saying the town centre's footfall 'is not capable of supporting it' and that the lease at its site had run out.
