The nationwide family-run retailer will create 65 jobs - and adds that 28 of which are new hires from the local community in Coalville.

"They now have a bigger, brighter, better Home Bargains.

"There is so much more choice which includes a garden centre, cafe and bakery.

"My team and I, look forward to welcoming everyone on Saturday, February 1."

The 20,451 sq. ft store, is set to offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Home Bargains says it has more than five million customers each week attracted by branded goods at low prices.

Opening approximately 50 stores a year, Home the company says it is bucking current trends in the industry.

Home Bargains was given the go-ahead to move into the former Co-op store in Bridge Road in Coalville two years ago - in a move described as 'bringing life' back to the area.

A planning application was made in July, 2022, by Liverpool-based T J Morris Limited - which operates as discount store Home Bargains across the country.

The company said in a report to the council that it wanted to raise its profile in the town.

Home Bargains' original application said it planned: "Reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing retail unit, comprising external alterations, including new shop front and customer entrance feature, trolley corral, revised parking layout, external display area, secure compound with forklift truck shed and associated works - Leicestershire Co-op Superstore, Bridge Road, Coalville."

T J Morris Ltd told the council that this scheme would create jobs - as well as keeping the Bridge Road building open as a retail outlet.

Home Bargains says it wanted to take over from two retailers - Iceland and New Life - which previously occupied the site.

The plans also explained that the company would demolish part of the current building which was vacated by the Co-op five years ago due to a 'decline in sales'.

That resulted in the Co-op opening a store in Hugglescote.
