Fluffy The Parrot has returned to his Coalville home safe and well.

The bird flew away on Monday, prompting owner Shamsuddin Ziauddin to put out an appeal to try and find him.

But within hours of going online in a bid to trace the Quaker Parrot, Fluffy flew back to Mr Ziauddin's home in Waterworks Road.

He had already been spotted nearby when a neighbour filmed him on top of a conservatory.

Mr Ziauddin explained: "I heard him calling us from Beech Tree road, the kids kept calling him from the garden, I went out to and he was sitting on the fence, still calling.

"I asked him to step up and he did.

"He was very hungry when he got back home, ate and drank all day."

Fluffy can say its own name and 'Good Boy'.

Quaker parrots are known for their charming, comical personalities and their willingness to learn human speech.

They are seen as a good choice for bird lovers who want all the fun of a large parrot in a smaller package.

Quakers are a popular pet, good for dedicated beginners, and adapt well to living in a 'human flock' setting.

But Fluffy ended up spending just one night away before returning.
