Leicestershire County Council has funded a local scheme to provide 200 meals for 12 weeks for vulnerable people in the Coalville area.

Coalville Education Partnership now have three months' worth of backing to provide the Hugglescote, Donington Le Heath and Coalville Community Response Hub with food.

Last weekend, we reported how the Hub had expanded rapidly in only five weeks since the Government's lockdown measures - and was supplying food and supplies to people in and around Coalville.

The report also explained it was using the CEP kitchens to prepare the meals which have been taken out to isolated people over the past month Coalville Hub Has 'Become Huge'

A post on Facebook page of Deana Wildgoose, of Coalville's THINK FC who work alongside communities, adds that the group has also been given £3079, direct to the cause (via a THINK FC application) for expenses for Jade Edwards, who founded the group, including a computer so she can manage this more easily, as well as for additional supplies and costs.

And the Facebook update on Wednesday continues: "Today we heard that our application to Hugglescote and Donnington Le Heath Parish Council was approved and they are giving £750!

"So thanks very much to all those funders! We have asked the District Council for a contribution and have also applied to Leicester City Football Club and the Communities Foundation.

"Other than that it's donations of food etc from the lovely peeps at Aldi, Lidl and Morrisons, and the amazing efforts from all you guys and gals! So well done! Anyone with any ideas of what else? Where else? And what next please share!"

Jade also confirmed that the group has now been granted use of the Scout Hut in Hugglescote.

The group is continuing to grow in the area and the organisers' long-term aim is to make it a permanent service for those in need.
