The Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA) has launched Tech4Youth, an innovative initiative aimed at tackling digital exclusion among young people in North West Leicestershire.

The programme, launched in collaboration with Coalville-based Barratt Homes, aims to provide essential devices, connectivity, and digital literacy workshops to 90 young people aged 11 to 19.

Barratt Homes has not only provided funding for the Tech4Youth programme but has also committed a team of dedicated volunteers.

These volunteers will offer hands-on support and guidance, equipping participants with the necessary skills to thrive in today's increasingly digital world.

Their involvement ensures that each young person receives personalised attention and mentorship, fostering a supportive environment for digital learning.

A recent report by Deloitte on Digital Poverty in the UK, produced in partnership with the DPA, highlighted that digital poverty affects approximately one in five children across the UK, with significant impacts on younger adults compared to middle-aged adults.

Elizabeth Anderson, CEO of the Digital Poverty Alliance, highlighted the importance of Tech4Youth in empowering young people and bridging the digital divide at the launch event.
