A pub site which caused controversy during the Covid pandemic could be converted into a house and flats.
The former Boot Inn, in Gladstone Street, Ibstock, closed two years ago.
Now plans have been put to North West Leicestershire District Council to turn the building into a house and five apartments.
Developers, Luxe Property, say that no interest has been shown in carrying on the site as a pub.
The Boot became infamous during the early days of the Coronavirus lockdown - with the ex-landlord breaking eight Covid regulations in all.
During one visit from the police, three drinkers were found hiding in the cellar.
Now the building is set for a completely new use.
A planning statement from Aida McManus, on behalf of Luxe Property, has been presented to Coalville planners as part of the application submitted at the end of last month.
It says a number of potential deals for the pub fell through before Luxe bought it for £325,000 last summer, with a view to redeveloping the site.
The planning statement adds: "No interest was shown in the property by anyone wishing to operate the site as a public house due to social and economic changes both prior to and following COVID with more people opting to stay at home or meet friends socially at their respective homes rather than drinking in pubs.
"This has made many such public houses not longer viable, which is the case in this instance.
"The planning application seeks to a convert of the public house to one three-bedroomed dwelling and five two-bedroom apartments. The dwelling will be provided with two car parking spaces, whilst the apartments will be provided with one parking space each.
"The proposed alterations ensure that the design will enhance the character of the area. The proposed conversion of use of the public house to a dwelling and five apartments will contribute to the Council's housing requirements without resulting in a detrimental impact on the amenity of local residents and neighbours.
"The proposal will help to support and enhance the vitality of the local economy and whilst according with the provisions of both National and Local Planning Policy without resulting in any adverse impacts that would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits."
