Some residents in Whitwick and Thringstone were warned about the possibility of 'imminent' flooding on Tuesday evening as Storm Henk brought heavy rain to the area.

But the warning was removed this afternoon (Wednesday).

The Gov.UK website had said the rising river levels at the Grace Dieu Brook were posing a threat to property in the area.

People were being warned to remove valuable items off the ground - or to a safe area in case flood water enters homes north of Coalville.

The website says: "River levels have risen at the Whitwick upstream river gauge as a result of persistent rainfall.

"Consequently, flooding of property is possible imminently.

"Areas most at risk are Whitwick and Thringstone.

"We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Our incident response staff are patrolling watercourses in the area and liaising with emergency services.

"Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and avoid contact with flood water.

"This message will be updated by midnight (early hours of Wednesday), or as the situation changes."

The flood warning areas are the Grace Dieu Brook at Whitwick and Thringstone including the junction on Ashby Road and Snarrow's Road.
