Fire crews were called out to two kitchen fires on Wednesday evening - one in Coalville, the other in Ibstock.

Crews from Coalville, Ashby and Market Bosworth attended a blaze at a property in Melbourne Road, Ibstock, at around 6.15pm.

A cooker's electrical fault caused the fire with what Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service described as 'moderate damage to the kitchen and severe smoke damage to kitchen'.

A later update said: "On arrival Incident Commander confirmed a kitchen fire, well alight, four fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet being used to extinguish the fire.

"Fire crews removed fridge/freezer and cooker to outside of the property, Property ventilated."

A pan had accidentally been left on the cooker causing slight damage to the kitchen area.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service reported: "On arrival, Incident Commander confirmed the fire had been extinguished by the occupier. Fire crews inspecting the area."
