East Midlands Airport officials have told anyone booked on a Flybe flight to stay away.

The airport issued a statement on Thursday morning telling people to not to go there if they have flights arranged through the company which has fallen into administration.

An East Midlands Airport statement read: ""We regret to inform passengers that, as of Thursday 5th March 2020, Flybe has ceased trading.

"All Flybe flights have been cancelled. Anyone who is booked onto a Flybe flight, and hasn't started their journey, should not travel to the airport.

"The East Midlands to Jersey/Guernsey service, which was operated by Blue Islands under a franchise agreement with Flybe, will continue to operate as normal and passengers will be unaffected.

"Customers with bookings for Blue Islands operated flights today (Thursday 5 March 2020) should check-in at the airport as normal.

"This is a difficult time for passengers whose travel plans have been disrupted. We will continue to provide information and assistance to anyone who has been affected.

"Passengers who were due to travel with Flybe back to EMA should contact their travel insurance company in the first instance.

"We regret the loss of Flybe which has played an important role connecting communities around the UK. From East Midlands Airport, the airline flew to Belfast and Amsterdam."

Flybe says that customers who require further information or assistance should contact the administrators, EY, on 0207 951 7801 or by email at [email protected].
