Early hours car blaze in Ellistown is suspected to be 'deliberate' act - as passer-by puts out fire

A car was set on fire 'deliberately' in Ellistown in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A VW Golf was discovered ablaze shortly after 2.20am in Beveridge Lane.
Police and a fire crew from Coalville were called to the incident, but the fire was reportedly put out by a member of the public.
It was confirmed that nobody was in the vehicle at the time, but an arson investigation by police is ongoing.
A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed a VW Golf was involved in the fire which was extinguished by a passer-by before the arrival of the fire engine.
"Police were informed as it was believed to be a deliberate ignition by persons unknown.

"The initial emergency call was received at 2.21am and a fire engine from Coalville attended. The incident was closed at 3am.
"There was moderate fire damage to the car."
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Coalville Nub News: "Police were contacted at 2.43am today (Tuesday) by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service who were in attendance at a car fire in Beveridge Lane, Coalville.
"The fire was extinguished.
"No-one was in the vehicle at the time.
"Following initial enquiries, it is understood the fire may have been started deliberately. An investigation remains ongoing."
