Coalville will remember and reflect on the sacrifices of fallen soldiers at a Remembrance Day service and parade.
The Coalville event - on Sunday, November 13 - is organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) in partnership with the Whitwick branch of the Royal British Legion.
The parade leaves Christ Church at 10.30am passing along Hotel Street and High Street, culminating in a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Memorial Square, which is always well supported by the public.
During the two minutes silence, poppy petals will be released from the top of the Memorial Clock Tower to honour of those who served and currently serve in the armed forces.
There will be other services and events to mark Remembrance
• The Poppy Appeal launch, led by the Whitwick branch of the Royal British Legion at the War Memorial in Coalville on 29 October at 11am
• An Armistice Day Service at the War Memorial in Coalville on Friday 11 November at 11am
The Poppy Pilgrimage is also featured
North West Leicestershire will take part in the University of Leicester's Poppy Pilgrimage to honour the lives that were lost during the First World War and wreaths will be laid at the following locations:
• Monday 31 October at Memorial Clock Tower, Memorial Square, Coalville
• Friday 4 November at Village Green, Church Lane, Hemington
• Friday 4 November at Castle Donington War memorial, High Street. Castle Donington
Working with town and parish councils and local businesses, North West Leicestershire District Council has also installed 21 poppy ground stencils in seven different communities in the district to raise awareness of the Poppy Appeal.
To allow for the parade to pass along Hotel Street and High Street, a road closure will be in place on Sunday 13 November from 10am until 12pm. Road users are reminded to use an alternative route whilst it is closed.
The council's dedicated Armed Forces Champion is Councillor Tony Gillard. He said: "Remembrance Day is a chance to reflect and remember those we have lost, and to show our gratitude to those that are serving in conflicts around the world.
"Our Remembrance parade is always supported brilliantly by the public and I have no doubt we will see that again this year."
A number of other parades and services are to be held in North West Leicestershire over the weekend with information available from parish councils or local churches.
