North West Leicestershire District Council has issued an appeal for people to stop vandalising the life rings at two of the area's attractions in and around Coalville.

The Council says the damage us being done at Hermitage Lake, Whitwick and the Nature Alive reserve in Coalville.

And the local authority says that CCTV is to be installed with the added threat of possible police action for anyone caught on camera.

A social media post from the Council reads: "Sadly, we're consistently finding that life rings at Hermitage Lake, Whitwick and Nature Alive are being vandalised, damaged, or thrown into the water without reason.

"These rings are provided to save lives should someone get into difficulty - please leave them as they are.

"We'll be putting in some temporary mobile CCTV surveillance to keep an eye on things too, which will be passed to the police if necessary."
