Cancer, hip fracture prevention and obesity are among the health priorities in North West Leicestershire that residents are being asked about in a new survey.

People who live and work in the district can now fill out a survey which asks them whether they agree with nine health priorities that have been identified using local data.

The survey forms part of North West Leicestershire District Council's (NWLDC) work to develop a Community Health and Wellbeing Plan in partnership with the NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board.

Residents are being given the opportunity to have their say on the priorities and shape the plan which will support the district's communities to live healthier and happier lives over the next three years.

The nine priorities include:

•                Cancer prevention

•                Hip fracture prevention

•                Dementia

•                Breastfeeding

•                Carers support

•                Obesity

•                Mental health

•                Learning disabilities / special educational needs

•                Diabetes.

It is proposed that these priorities will be split up over a three-year period as follows:

• Year 1: Cancer prevention, hip fracture prevention, obesity and mental health

• Year 2: Breast feeding, dementia, learning disabilities

• Year 3: Carers support, diabetes.

All responses are anonymous and can be submitted HERE. The deadline to fill the survey in is 9 July.

Councillor Michael Wyatt, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "We're working with the NHS to get a better understanding of the district's health priorities.

"We've engaged with stakeholders and have looked at local data which has identified nine key areas to focus on for the next three years.

"Now, we're asking people who live and work in the district to have their say about the priorities, if they agree and whether there's anything they think we're missing."

Paper copies will also be provided from week commencing June 26 at various locations across the district including:
