The George Pub at Coleorton has decided to close as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The public have being urged to stay away from pubs by the Government, leaving landlords and manager with a decision as to whether to open at a time when the country is in the grips of a pandemic.

But The George took its decision on Wednesday and posted the following online.

"With a heavy heart we want to inform you all that we have made the decision to close The George with immediate effect.

"We appreciate and are truly touched by the support we have received from our customers however we feel we have a moral obligation to look after customers, our George team and their families at this time. Your health is your wealth.

"We are in the process of contacting all our bookings and we can only apologise to the people this affects. We will keep everyone updated via Facebook.

"When we all beat this virus WE WILL continue to provide the same level of food and service that you expect at The George and hope to see you all then.
