North West Leicestershire District Council has yet to decide if its VE Day 75th Anniversary Celebration will go ahead on May 8.

Ashby this week cancelled its event due to be held on the town's Bath Grounds.

That was because of Government measures introduced after the Coronavirus outbreak.

But Coalville's planned event is still on for now.

A message on the North West Leicestershire District Council Coronavirus website page Information for Communities says: "Our most significant upcoming events are the VE Day event in Coalville Park on May 8, and Picnic in the Park in June.

"There are still a number of weeks before these events so we haven't made any decisions yet – we will follow Public Health England advice nearer the time."

But the Council has confirmed that the Police and Crime Commissioner elections due to take place on May 7 have been cancelled What Coalville Needs To Know
