Queen and Beatles tribute acts will headline the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration in Coalville this summer.

Families in the town will enjoy live music, children's rides and entertainment as the town comes together to mark the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty's service.

Organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC), and thanks to main sponsor, Everyone Active, the celebrations will take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June in Coalville Park.

Live performances will start at Coalville Park between 6pm and 9.30pm on Saturday 4 June from soul, funk and rock and roll four-piece, The Silicone Taxis and jazz music from The Steve King Big Band.

Celebrations will continue between noon and 5.30pm on Sunday 5 June, also in Coalville Park.

Highlights on stage include the Queen II and Hey Beatles tribute acts and Leicestershire Co-op Brass Band.

During the free event, lots of stalls, attractions and family entertainment will be available including Baby Big Top Circus. Children and young people will be also able to show off their skills with a climbing wall plus a skate and scooter and graffiti workshops.

Food and drink will be available to purchase at both events and people are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy.

Councillor Andrew Woodman, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at NWLDC, said: "To celebrate the Queen's 70th year on the throne, we've got lots lined up to help our communities come together and mark the historic milestone.

"It's completely free so bring your family and friends and join in the celebrations taking place in Coalville over the long bank holiday weekend."

Duncan Gibb, Everyone Active's contract manager, said: "We are proud to sponsor this fantastic event and to play our part in a special couple of days for Coalville.

"We hope people of all ages enjoy the celebrations."

Visitors to either event are asked to prepare for the weather conditions and bring something to sit on.
