Picnic in the Park is returning to Coalville for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

A Beatles tribute act, climbing wall and a caricature artist will all be part of the festivities tomorrow (Sunday, June 18).

Families in the town will enjoy live music, children's rides and entertainment.

Organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC), Picnic in the Park will take place from 12pm until 5.30pm.

Highlights on stage include music from tribute band Hey Beatles, The Inspired and Leicestershire Co-op Brass Band.

Picnic in the Park also features lots of stalls, attractions and family entertainment including a climbing wall, skate and scooter workshop, football tables, graffiti workshop and a caricaturist.

Children will also be able to take part in craft activities and fairground rides.

Food and drink will be available to purchase, and people are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy. Visitors are asked to prepare for the weather conditions and bring something to sit on.

Coalville Park has hosted Jubilee and Coronation events over the past 12 months, but Picnic in the Park is making a return.

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration at NWLDC, said: "We know that Picnic in the Park is important to local people as it's always so well attended, so it's great to see it return to Coalville.

"There's lot lined up, plus it's completely free to attend – save the date in your diary and bring your family, friends and chairs to Coalville Park for some great family fun."

As there is no parking on site, attendees are encouraged to use town centre car parks. Accessible parking will be available at St Wilfrid's R C Church, London Road.

If anyone is interested in having a stall at either event, contact our Events Team on 01530 454505 or email [email protected]
